Get the commission you asked for!
We have all heard the horror stories of commissions, developed in the confines of the artist's studio and revealed only at the penultimate moment of the unveiling ceremony, that completely missed the mark, either being unrecognizable as the subject, in the case of portrait sculptures, or lacking basic aesthetics or good judgement as abstracts.
To ensure my clients get what they asked for...and more;
1. I develop a strong artistic concept (with visuals) and share that concept with those commissioning the project. Once agreed that artistic concept guides me without limiting my creativity.
2. I schedule reviews during the development of the work, to get additional feedback from the commissioners and to keep us all on the same page.
3. I strive every day to deliver an artwork that is in good taste and pleasing to the eye.

A collaborative challenge!
Art Commission work hearkens back to earlier times when artists provided a useful documentary service, albeit in an artful and highly professional manner, and used materials that withstood the test of time. I am pleased to receive recognition for both my two(2) and three(3) dimensional work, winning two separate art commissions; one in each disciple.
My realist, portrait style is conducive to art commissions. Further, I thrive in the collaborative atmosphere, working closely with the sponsor or art commission committee. There's always some hurdle to overcome and a real need for in-depth research of the subject.
